RULES & TECHNICAL OVERVIEW

Don’t understand the detail, no problem. Remember our Tournament Team will be there on the day to facilitate competition activities.

  • Machines for use during the Tournament will be pre-selected by the Tournament Director depending on the total number of registered competitors (max 20 machines).
  • When the Tournament commences each machine is randomly assigned 2-competitors – the remaining competitors are placed into a queue.
  • When a head-to-head match is completed, both competitors report the result to a scoring official.
  • The winner of a head-to-head match will score a “Win” (+1 point), and the loser scores a “Loss” (-1 point).
  • Regardless of the match result, “Player 2” in the game is placed at the end of the queue and player 1 returns to the machine with his/her next assigned opponent. The new player will play as “Player 1” in the new match and the returning player will play as “Player 2” – this process repeats for each match during the Flip Frenzy to ensure fairness for all competitors.
  • When a competitor’s name is called to a match during the Tournament they have up to 20-seconds to respond. If a competitor fails to respond to the call, they will be recorded as a “no-show”, credited with a loss (-1 point) and placed back in the queue. The player at the head of the queue is then assigned “Player 1” position on that match.
  • A competitor if free to concede a match or end a ball if they desire to do so. However, all balls during a match must be plunged, meaning the machine must be in “game over” state when both competitors leave the machine. Competitors are not permitted at any time to turn a machine on/off to reset the machine.
  • Collusion between players to manipulate a result is strictly forbidden, and will result in both players being instantly disqualified.
  • To ensure the constant speed of the Flip Frenzy Tournament, if an extra ball is earned, it must be plunged and drained without using flippers or “nudging” – but can be skillfully plunged.
  • When the Tournament time expires, no more matches may start, however existing matches may continue and be completed.
  • Final results and standings are based on net wins (wins minus losses) – competitors are ordered based on their aggregated score.
  • Any ties for podium positions are broken by (1) the most wins during the Tournament, and if still tied (2) the results of those competitors’ individual head-to-head matches, and if still tied (3) a single game play-off on a machine chosen at random using a list randomiser.
  • No competitor at any time shall interfere with another competitor, or manipulate any machine – this will result in instant disqualification from the Tournament.
  • “Nudging” is permitted as part of pinball competitive play, however any rough handling of machines during game-play will forfeit the match (loss) and in extreme cases result in disqualification.
